try getting the engine no off it n taking it in 2 your local vw dealer. They should b able 2 tell you * +

On d righthand side of d block wud b a 18 mark if its 1800. Also d 1800 8v has steel plate tappet cover wheras d 2.0 8v nd 1800 16v has alu tappet covers. * +
