Ok i understand the greatest wear occurs in a cylinder at the top but why does it wear at the top more than the bottom * +

coz the combustion happens there..and it get down with presure there?..dontknow..just general point of view..not an expert * +

i second that.....maybe initially the explosion is highly energised..piston has alota stress applied to get the crank moving in the direction...violent motion in short space of time shock hence scouring ? ...err,just my guess * +

Its closer to the explosion and oil reachs there last, more friction, more wear n tare. * +

Bottom of the stroke? Cooler and more time between strokin aswel more lube * +

Ok heres what i think, when the piston is at tdc lubrication is at minimum especially during start up,as the piston reaches bdc the cylinder is lubricated cause oil pressure is built up and fills the holes in the crank which throws it in the cylinder at the bottom * +
