Look, to put it to bed once and for all and hopefully end this internecine strife -some earlier Android phones DIDN'T animate gifs; you can see this easily enough via Google, it's more than possible that the postwriter has a device with that OS limitation. And although the specs of his phone show that it will display gif images, it doesn't say anything about ANIMATED gifs, some gif images are 'still' just like jpegs.
