I didn't read this page but I did notice like other phones, you have to unlock your bootloader first.

this is a guide to to everything needed, it mentions ADB so it'll be via PC *

if you complete it and install the recommended custom recovery, I highly suggest Viper4android and DolbyAtmos if the one plus 5t has a version and you're into listening to music from your phone. *
