Go to Settings - Storage - Cached data (of the phone stoage) - click on cached data - Clear cached data? - Ok.
Good luck

I tried that - didn't work. Same error message. I have free 412MB (out of 2GB) internal memory available, and 10.48GB USB storage available (whatever that means)

A friend told me to do a 'wipe cache partition' so I looked it up. It seems a long complex process and risky as hell. Should I try that? I don't wanna lose apps' data/settings, though. I'd be devastated. Which is why I also don't wanna do a factory reset cause obviously that involves having to restore/re-download everything afterwards. * +

sounds like data/data partition is full, uninstall the biggest P.O.S. app you have that's never gonna get used.

everyone has those even if you doubt it. if you're not gonna use an app in the next 6 months and you've never used it...uninstall * +
