it's better to create a swap partition on your external memory card. using swap wears memory much faster so you can kill your phone quicker. * +

it doesn't swap ram with internal or external, it creates a partition called a swap partition or a swap file that used for caching stuff that would otherwise go into ram.
I prefer doing the opposite and disabling zram completely so you always have more free ram that works a little better. the downside is needing to restart apps that aren't in memory more often. the phone is a little bit faster though so it's worth it.

swap is useless for games, it's not fast enough. the only way I can think of to improve ram on a small phone is to limit background processes in developer options and then close everything from recent tasks before launching the game. *
