I hate this move, it's the same move Apple are rumored to do with the iPhone 7, where the 3.5mm jack will be removed, there are already many high end Lightning USB headphones around.

Mel, yes, apparently this will allow manufacturers make slimmer phones, the very last thing we need right now. Engadget tried to make the excuse that with the 3.5mm gone there won't be a need for a DAC, but the fact is a DAC is still required for the phone speakers. Why remove the 3.5mm jack when you can have audio through both the Lightning/USB-C port AND 3.5mm jack, give us choice. * +
