IM stands for Instant Messaging. It's the process which involves 2 parties sending messages to each other, both using the same client software. In most cases, a server acts as the connections between the parties. In other words, IM Is just a simple method to exchange methods instantly just as in a chat session. Hope that helps you. * +

@ marty with the large majority of questions asked in here more often than not the answers can be found by doing a search. That button at the bottom isn't reserved for an exclusive few to use. How else do you think the people who do help find out what they know? By doing their own research whether thats in here or on net etc
