I use my phone as a modem. But even without actually browsing, the pc is using up my data, when i look at my data connection i see the pc has received a lot of data. * +

could be but once updated it should stop. I had this prob and used malwarebytes and some other program to remove the things that where causing it. . . Give it a try. . . Is your phone an android phone as that constantly is connected to the internet? * +

Maybe its malware. I'll try it but i think i have anti-spyware software installed. But i'll try your suggestion. * +

It's not virus nor malware! Whenever you connect your phone to pc or a modem to pc, whether or not you are using the internet, the pc will send and recieve data. So when you are not using the internet, disconnect from it or simply just unplug phone or modem and reconnect when you wish to use up some data. * +
