An economist wil say,since u can get cellfones anytime u want but depending on ur bucks,then,there is excess supply of phones or supply exceed demand...Supply can never exceed demand if those who r demandin r more than what is being demanded(i.e if customers r more than d phones). The total number of phones I have is in double figures, 3 of which are in everyday use and another few kept on standby. So yes I can see how it's easily possible though there are still a lot of people who stick to only using one phone at a time and even forget about their perfectly good previous smartphone when they upgrade, so may depend on whether it's phones in use or phones accumulated. * +
