Did you try selecting umts mode only in network selection? Might be on dual and going for gsm? * +

they may have replaced it with a w995 with old firmware. the w995 old firmware is cr*p it has a few problems like the old 'insert a sony ericsson charger' message when there is a sony ericsson charger in... hook it up to a PC, go to sony ericsson website n see if there is any available firmware upgrades... *
