The prob is my wifes dad is a taxi driver and found a n97 being the good guy he is he handed in to the police he forgot about it till last week when he got a letter saying that no one had claimed it and he could claim it but it is imei locked or blocked vodafone customer services say it will be ok if i get it unlocked but dont wan2 waste 15 quid in card it dont work any 1 been in this situation b4 * +

1 of the 1st things id do was check if the phone worked at the time of finding it and dialled a number that could of easily been reclaimed * +

At the time of finding he tryed to dial but was already network barred and voda wont supply the code i need to take it to a unlock shop hence the aprehension in spending the money * +

id contact a number in the phonebook saying HOME or MUM or DAD lol... but im guessing u n the police surely would have done that??? * +

getting a phone unblocked is ilegal and voda deffinatly wont do it. unlocking to all networks wont help * +

its possible Voda customer services got confused by your request as even here u said locked or blocked... locked tends to mean network locked... blocked tends to mean blacklisted... n person u spoke to just assumed u meant unlocking... if theres no way of getting original owner then try a voda sim in their for couple weeks n if it doesnt block then the chances are phone wont block n then u can.... * +
