I just setup a my email phone for retrieving and sending mail. It was a great success when I search on the web for incoming and outgoing mail server for yahoo mail setting. I can attach video, audio and photo to my mail when sending it. It cheaper. I consume less Kilobyte. * +

...but you know why it's generally so much hassle to setup pop3 on your phone - none of the networks want you to send your pics and sounds via nice cheap email, they'd much rather you used expensive mms messaging.

its expensive for the networks, the e mails are sent via gprs so come under your data bundle where as mms are charged individually * +

Well it's quite complex when it comes to cost - it depends very much on whether you have a data plan or not. It's always cheaper to send a PLAIN TEXT email than it is to send a text message, regardless of whether you have a data plan or not, but with other content it varies.
