According to the daily mail scientists have just discovered that when pregnant women use their mobile it can effect the behaviour patterns of their child once its born. They are suggesting that mobile phones work on simular wavelengths to that of the brains electrical impulses in the child. They now plan to urge mothers not to use a mobile. Nonsense or fact? Another theory with no proof? * +

There have been many health scares recently related to mobile phone masts or cell sites as they are known in the trade. Whilst i do think they should be more carefull where they erect them, there danger has been blown way out of proportion. When people see large phone masts it automatically clicks in their head that because they are physically large they must put out a lot of power. * +

And as a result people put them in the same catagory as a tv or radio mast. In reality there is a big differance. For a start tv and radio masts send out rf power in the region of kilowatts. (thousands of watts) in comparison a typical phone mast only outputs between 80 and 100 watts. A tiny fraction of what a tv radio mast produces. * +

The dishes that transmit the power for your mobile to work have to be on a mast so they are high enough to be efficiant however obvious it may sound. In a nutshell you and your kids are in more danger from the phone you put to your head than the mobile phone mast at the bottom of your road or wherever it may be. * +

The people who jump to the wrong conclusions when they see a phone mast rarely bother to research the facts. And if people did then they would see that these masts are not anything to worry about. People also forget about the signal that travels around their home from wireless internet and even the use of digital cordless phones which have the same risk factor as mobile phones. * +

And overhead power lines are the most dangerous of all and yet you rarely hear them mentioned nowadays. We should be more worried about transmissions in very close proximity like wireless internet networks and cordless phones. Everything that transmits produces a small amount of radiation which varies according to the power of the transmission. * +
