hi all ive got a nokia 6500 slide and i need to turn ma proxy off so i can get on ere does anyone know how i can do this so i can get on wap ? thanks x * +

Dunno where the settings are in the 6500 as it's series 40 I think, but wherever your access points are (in s60 phones it's 'tools/settings/connection/access points') then you'd scroll to the one you want to edit, click on it, and go to 'options/advanced settings' and delete it from there. This option isn't present in all s40 phones, so fingers crossed.. * +

d*mn, we've had the same problem with other s40 phones, sorry about that :( you know that you can use Opera Mini to get around the safeguard though? It uses Operas own proxy servers, in addition to being a great little browser :) * +

Ok, in the place where you write the URL you want to go to in the web browser, type: mini.opera.com it's a small page so it won't cost you, and it'll offer you the appropriate version for your phone. It's a java application, around 100kb and since the data is compressed before reaching your phone, you'll be able to browse large web pages your normal phone browser wouldn't be able to handle. * +
