o2 certainly offer free sims online and I believe some of the other providers do too. Might be worth googling 'free 3g sims'. Mind you, they're only about 3 quid to buy from your local paper shop or wherever so... * +

If you have a 2G SIM but want to use 3G just tell your network and they may send a replacement, O2 do at least. * +
