No, normal GPRS charges apply for the data transfer, but the page information is compressed in much the same way that a phone based browsing application such as Opera Mini does, meaning it's possible to browse pages your phones default browser couldn't cope with. There is, however, no charge for the use of the gateways themselves, hence: free. * +
