Edge is a fancy word for data speeds(browsing and up/downloading@240kbps). Its bout 5 times faster than ordinary gprs. * +

Not really... EDGE is 230kbps on my Moto V360 and ordinary GPRS is around 144kbps. Nowhere near 5x as fast then... * +

gprs, edge, 3g, hsdpa just diif tech, gprs is really old school so at least u know u got edge. Next time don't worry about 3g just go for hsdpa, +- 1500kbps in SA. Even goes to dbl that speed and mbe more in other countries. * +

Sonyericsson is not good for EDGE. They are the last when it comes to EDGE support. Even alcatel is better. they only have 3 cellphones with edge and 3g and they are really weak in specs. NOKIA on the other hand is the KING when it comes to EDGE. Most of their cells support it :) Motorola and Samsung are Ok too followed by LG and Alcatel. Sonyericsson and the others are nowhere when you want EDGE. * +
