Hey guys. Weird issue. Watched some series on my laptop (Acer 5724G), put my laptop at my bedside, woke up the next morning and the colours were all messed up. It was never dropped, stepped on anything like that. Only thing I can recall was my cell phone (Note 3) dropped on top of it (landed around the centre) from a short height (20cms, give or take). Now the screen has everything in negative/inverted (more or less)... from boot (bios background is white, letters are black) and the logon screen is red. I'm able to access everything with no problem (turned on colour inversion on screen magnifier to help navigate) and my games still run at full speed. Plugged lappy into my monitor and everything works fine on there. In any case, any ideas as to what the hell is up with this thing? Googling has given me results such as a faulty connector or something... * +

Well it does sound like the problem is hardware related. Why not find a guide on how to disassemble the laptop and inspect the connector? You could try changing the connector. A new screen might cost a bit but if that is the problem you could replace it. Finding out if the screen is the faulty is the tricky part, you will need another screen to test, or another laptop. * +

Most laptops have a monitor port, so plug one in and see if it looks the same. If so, your GPU is probably bad and its time to buy a new lappy. * +

When I dropped my phone on my screen, it was on the back of the screen... the 'top', plastic, part of the laptop, not the actual screen itself. There are no dents or anything, so the drop may have been slightly bad but not nearly that bad. Also, the screen worked fine after I dropped my cell on it... *
