Whenever I turn on my laptop it takes me to a menu that says start normally or fix and neither of them let me go further than this point : * +

i had the exact same thing happen to me a few months back. I posted a topic here about that problem of which the replies to it might help if u check it out or u could try inserting the windows disc that came with ur laptop and select fix or u could install the windows os afresh instead of fixing, of which u might lose all the data u had but i reckon u can still recover it if u select appropriate options during installation. The last solution worked for me after everything else tried failed but i wasn't able to recover my data (dislike) * +

That usually happens when the laptop shuts down without closing Windows. If you have made a Repair Disc, just insert it and choose Repair. If you have no Repair Disk, just start Windows normally and hope for the best. If it boots up normally and you can log in, make a Repair Disc... (now)

You can find instructions on how to make a Repair Disk by clicking the Start menu then typing in Repair Disk into the Search Programs and Files field. * +

bad sectors / boot sectors on your hard drive, click Fix you may find any imput device ie the track pad mouse dont work so use the arrow keys. if you get windows open, click start type in cmd and enter, a new window appears, now type this chckdisk and hit enter, DO NOT do anything till this has finished, it will check and repair disk * +

''it takes me to a differently pop up page to select a file but there are about 50 to choose from'' (confuse)

Can you give more details about this? Or maybe a picture?

Also, what is the make and model of your laptop? - This is an important question, if you want help! * +

Make and model is important because you probably have a partition on the HDD to restore the laptop back to how it was when it left the factory. There will be an F key (such as F11 for example) that you can press at start up to restore your laptop. Some laptops have a dedicated key, like some Sony Vaios * +

If a laptop doesn't come with a recovery disk, it will nearly always have a recovery partition. * +
