I doubt cpu intensive software would make your pc slower, unless of course its torrented and you've got a virus on it. Try a defrag first see if it makes a difference. * +

If you or the program made changes to the bios settings, reset to default, and I agree about the software, best torrent for you now would be malwarebytes! * +

One good open source defragger I found is UltraDefrag. It even has a quick boot time defrag that you can use between full defragmentations.It also has a file optimizer which will improve the overall speed of your hard drive. But you should first do a full antivirus scan to make sure you don't have something rather nefarious slowing your PC down. *
