It works by telling the optical drive to keep trying to read the data from the disk, and then hopefully after some tries the drive manages to read the data. It's probably not good for your drive to be doing that for a long time. You could get the disk resurfaced. There is a video game company here called GAME that offer a resurfacing service for about 3 pounds, maybe you have a similar company there? http://youtu.be/KQMg0-IexfY * +
