I have been getting this error everytime i try to install windows xp as a fresh install on a HD. From googling about i see its ram related. I have tried different rams to no avail. It all started when the pc just refused to take and work with my 2gb ram. all i have are old 256mb sticks and still even if one works i keep getting that error upon windows xp installation. The pc is just for reading ebooks and listening to music. *

Tried clearing CMOS and set defaults in the BIOS? *

have tried setting defaults and that seems to help pc boot up otherwise it just shows a flashing underscore on the top left of the screen, will try that again and also clear the cmos. Although i'm beginning to think there is no hope as i have tried everything even using a linux cd to no avail. *
