I'm planning on getting a laptop in 2-3 weeks.. But I'm confused a lot between these thousands of configurations. For the start I'll ask whether I should go for i7 with a weak graphics card like GeForce GT 630M or get an i5 with GeForce GT 740M?? If I chose i5 what will be the things that I won't be able to do on it. Can I convert 1080p mkv movies to 1080p or 720p mp4 to put on my phone with i5 or I'll need i7 for it?? Please help as I'm very much of newbie when it comes to PCs, don't rea * +

I'd go for the i5 haswell with a 740,it will do all u want and more,the i7 only has the extra hyper threading feature which is pointless getting unless ur going to utilise it * +

Haswell is too much costly for me.. Tell me about Ivy Bridge i5 or i7.. Also I will do just casual gaming on my laptop and I got no desktop to do heavy tasks so I'll have to rely only on my laptop so confused. * +

The i7 might save you a bit of time when encoding videos and using other software. It's not going to really matter unless you are doing those things for hours each day and need the tasks to be completed faster. * +

hehehe thnx dude very very much.. Also what about ram, is 4GB enough? cause I think I saw one from Sony with that i5 and 740M and one Dell inspiron with 730M.. but they have only 4GB of ram. Is that enough? Sorry for these stupid questions by the way (if they are!!) (lol) * +
