I notice currys in the uk are now selling laptops with 16gb of ram, providing you can live with U series core i processors that is. So it seems the 8gb barrier has now been broken where laptops are concerned, at least with non gaming laptops anyway. I say that cos I've seen high end gaming laptops online with 16gb ram. But it seems it won't be long before 16gb is the new ceiling where everyday consumer laptops are concerned. But the question is do you really need that much ram in a non gaming laptop? And How much multitasking can one person do after all?! * +

ddr3 is so cheap now that laptop makers throw it in just to make a laptop sound good as most people that buy from currys/pc world havent a clue about specs much like the brain dead idiots that work in these places and 16 sounds better than 8 * +

and the staff don't have a clue either lol I agree.. But iam surprised to hear about your packard bell though, I visit my local currys every week and they have never had stock of any machine with 16gb of ram. So obviously your particular store must get different stock to ours! * +

its like those cheap celeron laptops with 1TB hard drives alvar89 lol. Plus you can get the intel stickers on ebay too, whip the celeron label of and replace it with a core i7 lol. May even be an advantage when selling to someone with little knowledge, as if I would lol * +

I think the atom should have been a performance processor, because as the name could easily imply explosive power not unlike the bomb lol. *
