Hi guys,need a little help plse? I rebuilt a pc and when I installed windows xp pro without any service packs the monitor was working fine and displayed in 16 bit,but the moment I upgrade to service pack 2 and 3 the system does not recognise the monitor and drops the display settings to 4 bit only??? Why is this? Surely if xp without service packs recognised the monitor/display adapter,then sp2 and 3 should recognise it too??? I have tried changing the monitor type and/or update the driver,but n * +

no such luck??? Btw,monitor is a Mecer MPRII.....tried finding a driver online but no luck there either??? any help will be appreciated!!! * +

as I said alvar....if I only run xp wivout service packs it works fine? so I don't think its the video driver??? * +

what are your pc specs? maybe a windows 7 upgrade is a solution * +

It is an old pentium 4 mobo alvar with onboard vga/agp.....will win 7 work on it??? Now that u mention it meghertz,when I checked the device manager one of the unknowns was something to do with video??? I just can't undastand how it works wiv xp when no service packs are installed bt not with any service packs??? just does not make sense??? *
