avg and avast free are highly rated despite what anyone else on here may tell you. otherwise they all have their different strengths and weaknesses just like everything else in life. how good an anti virus you require will depend on your surfing habits. if for instance you visit sites that are notorious for viruses and malware then you must be prepared to face the consequences of doing so. * +

with regards to windows xp, microsoft discontinue support for it next year which means there will be no more security updates or patches. which will mean the operating system will become increasingly less secure the more time passes after the end of support date. (xp is far less secure than the newer operating systems like vista and windows 7. and of course windows 8) * +

none. but if you let ppl use your pc from time to time, its best to get one. i have avg. most of warnings i get are from cracks and patches, and they arent harmfull. i wouldnt bother with any payable av. * +

Bitdefender is the best. * +

another vote for none. nor windows updates. so im not bothered with discontinued support. including drivers being that 2000 is still supported by manufactors. personally, windows 7 should have only been a set of extentions for xp. * +

No AV and no Windows updates Your online browsing experience must be a real pain in the as* because of the preventative measures you have to make manually. * +
