I seem to recall Sony also had an episode with exploding batteries too so thats not really an indication that acer may not be very good. Personally I believe that the majority of modern laptops will give you reliable service providing you look after them just like everything else * +

on my travels I see loads of 2nd hand laptops in appauling condition, they are not meant to be thrown around, if you want one that will take punishment you have to be prepared to dig deep for a panasonic tough book, its as simple as that! Respect your machine and it will respect you in most cases. * +
