U can also buy a proper pci audio card if u want proper 5.1 surround sound as the 3.5mm jack will only provide stereo sound * +

You can use 3.5mm for 5.1. You use 3 cables. Front, back, sub and centre. 6 channels. Optical is just easier though. * +

@spartan. My home theater only provide 2 hole of Audio In(red and white). While my pc have 3 hole of 3.5mm jack. As for now, i am using a cable of 2xRca jack(male) to 1x3.5mm jack(male), in which it only produce stereo as a output. Are you suggesting me to use a cable of 2xrca jack(male) to 3x3.5mm jack? * +

Vipinvip, my pc already have a realtech 5.1 software. Unfortunately whenever i set the stereo into 5.1, my bass and my rear speaker doesnt produce sound. * +
