it's 120 mm cabinet exhaust fan it has 4 pins instead of 3 pins like old cabinet fan. and motherboard has 3 pin connector for cabinet fan so can 4 pin socket be fitted on . mobo ? it fits the notch perfectly my guess is ,4 th pin is for fan led * +

i have a 4 pin in a 3 pin connector. it works, along with the LEDs but i cannot read the rpm in speedfan or the bios. * +

the 4th pin is for fan speed not the led's * +

nah! your header doesnt have the required pins so connecting it to another header wouldnt work. * +

it ll work . without control as pwm is pulse width modulation . fan speed is regulated with a pulse which is either positive or negative so ur fan wont be controlled by mobo * +
