Can someone explain to me why my windows xp can play a 1080p vid perfect but windows 7 cant :/ in windows 7 it freezes ( but sound continues). using vlc. latest nvidia drivers. 9600gt * +

windows 7 is probably running more processes..check hardware and software acceleration settings. I have 7 and 8 but xp is still my choice for most things! * +

it's a shame they're dropping support for xp next year as it's a workhorse and very secure and stable after over a decade of patches and updates. New systems are glitchy as was xp when it first appeard. * +

chances are the vid has been encoded with a codec you dont have on windows 7. get the win7 codec pack it should solve the problem. * +

Install VLC Player or the K-Lite Codec Pack with MediaPlayer Classic *
