i have a dell laptop i5 2.4ghz 8gb ddr3 ram.Majority of the time i notice my cpu frequency goes over 100-118, and idles at around 96-98 on idle. the cpu load however is 0-1. ie im not using it. the fan starts going at full and my pc slows down like s**t stuck in a blocked toilet. Like now the frequency is 33 but jus randomly it goes crazy n stays like that until i shut it down n leave it for a while. Im not sure whats the cause. I have kaspersky 2013 so i think think its a virus. Please advise. * +

i dont think so cos right now the freq is 33. Sometimes it shoots to 100 could it be software related? * +

the cpus do play with frequencys for power saving but they have to give you max if its under load if the thermal is ok. download hwmonitor or etc do see your temps * +

try using it without the batterie and but something under the 4 feet to lift it so it gets more air. * +

It sounds like a virus 2 me.. had same prob wit me desktop a while back... it loads yr cpu while staying hidden, lots of droppers n Trojans seem 2 do this, bt Im not n expert... chck n see if yr ram usage is also higher... n pleeeez dump kasperskrap, n try avast instead... it sorted my prob in no time... hp it helps. * +
