i seen hp lappys with smart enabled on the drives so when there are too many errors logged or the drive reaches its lifetime expectancy it throws up an error, best to turn that s**t off * +

smart is there for a reason. you should backup anything important, and than if you so wish turn off smart in bios and be ready for it to possibly fail soon *
