Hi. Just acquired an Apple Mac G5. Just the shiny silver tower, nothing else. Also missing a hard drive. I can put together, monitor, keyboard, cables. Question is, what kind of hard drive do I need? And would an external one work? As iv a spare, 250gb lacie external one. * +

A 3.5inch SATA drive. And I can't remember if a G5 will boot from an external drive. You will soon find out if you can select it When installing the OS from the DVD. * +

yeah just standard desktop sata hd. it will be formatted for a windows computer so you will just have to reformat the drive in the mac. assuming of course you are going to install mac osx in the first place. * +

10.5 Leopard I think. OS 10.6 snow leopard can only run on intel based newer macs only. * +

if its a non intel machine (power pc) then yes, the max OS you can install is 10.5 leopard thats correct plzgvhug. anything later requires intel. but 10.5 is a very good version so dont despair xjessx * +
