Why do PSUs keep blowing up in my new computer? Never had this happen before until I decided to build my own PC and now it's happened twice. First time, I was just minding my own business, playing GTAIV, when all of a sudden, KABOOM! massive bang, sparks and s**t everywhere. I assumed it was just a s**tty PSU since it came bundled with the case for 25 and it was only 500w. * +

Do you use a power strip or use a battery backup? If not, buy one, and call an electrician too. Because sooner or later they are going to stop honoring the warranties on the power supplies you purchase, or just not sell you any more. * +

I would NEVER even think about using a PSU you can buy for 13 pounds on any system I built. A 13 pound PSU is completely worthless. But on the other hand, that many of them failing so quickly is a bit suspicious. * +

I feel I should say again, a cheap PSU is NOT a good idea at all. Your whole PC is at risk of damage. * +

And you can forget overclocking with a cheap PSU. * +
