kernel files cannot be replaced while the system is in use meaning somebody technically minded could do it using 2machines and an offline linux boot cd,but for the majority that have less knowledge will simply need to place a windows install disc into their machine and reinstall windows.An in place upgrade option is available for newer windows such as vista and 7 which is the best way to go since it will not harm any files you currently have.just a quick reply before i sleep,enjoy. * +
