I need a little help please anyone, I switched my laptop on and all it says is 'operating system not found' what could I do to sort this out? * +

this usually means the hard drive is empty,meaning there is nothing stored on the computer. if it suddenly happened either there was a hard drive failiure or a virus deleted your drive. you will need to reinstall the system files from the system install disk provided with laptop and hope that will sort out. have you used the laptop and it suddenly happened or is it new? if the laptop is under warranty,you may wish to let them take care of it. * +

cool i got the laptop from a p*wn shop and all i got was a power supply cable with it, its a sony vaio. some1 mentioned i had to reinstall a windows programme but im not sure. * +

that someone probably meant that your laptop has no os and you've gotta install an operating system like xp windows 7 or maybe ubuntu * +

Try tapping F11 (I think) at startup. Or if it has an Assist button, turn it on by pressing that. Edit: It may be F10 for the recovery options. But since your laptop is not booting it shouldn't take long to try all the F keys. * +
