been offered two secondhand systems either e dell xps 710 with intel core 2 quad extreme qx6700 or a packard bell imedia with intel core 2 quad q6600. I realise these are not the latest stuff but it maybe the closest iam gonna get to a performance computer on my budget. but can anyone tell me which processor is the fastest cos they are both the same price? iam assuming the extreme is faster but how much faster? any help would be appreciated * +

yep the qx6700 is the better cpu but really theres more to a pc than just the processor... compare both systems fully b4 you make a decision . because the q6600 may have a better gfx card a better motherboard or better psu. reason behind this is that both cpu's are old but still pretty good and the qx is not much stronger for gaming so it would be wise to compare both systems fully b4 you make a decision. * +

ok cheers for that. to be honest iam gonna change the graphics card whichever system I buy cos neither of them are probably hd compatible and iam slinging a blue ray drive in * +

It's obvious which is the better CPU, but, how old are both of the CPU's? What I mean is, if the extreme was bought when it was really expensive then it was probably bought by someone who was going to do some serious overclocking. And as we know, overclocking shortens the life. Just something to think about. * +

Ffs no pc are hd compatible unless there is a nice grahics card and a hd monitor and a blueray drive install all this and bam you have a hd enabled pc with 1920X1080 resolution * +
