Please help! My laptop won't boot up it just says media test failed. I've tried everything its a toshiba satellite * +

Did a bit of googling and it seems that the problem is either a BIOS setting or a problem with the HDD or the HDD connections. Try going into the BIOS by pressing F2 when you first start up the laptop and apply the default settings, then save and exit. Also check to see if the HDD shows up on the POST screen.. The screen that has a small list of hardware when you first turn your laptop on. * +

If F2 doesn't work to get you into the BIOS, try other F keys and the 'del' key, or google for your specific model. * +
