QUESTION: does anybody know how accurate the windows performance rating is that comes with vista and win 7? iam curious because I remember when I had 2 dual core laptops 2 years ago one with intel core2duo and the other with amd dual core. the amd laptop beat the intel at the time which surprised me even though both laptops had the same amount of ram and simularly powered graphics. recently ive been examining windows ratings on new laptops in the shops by checking in control panel and I have to * +

as you said the two laptops had same processor, graphics and ram but one was rated higher it may of had a faster hard drive therefore scored higher, * +

2 laptops had same ram and simular powered graphics just that one was intel and the other amd. actually the hard drive is something thats ignored by a lot of people and yet it plays a big part in how fast it boots up and access times. the truth is it probably has more impact than anything else bar ram * +

its determined by the lowest subscore sum lappys are on a 5400rpm(4.4 to 5.4) drive and sum 7200rpm(5.9 score) you can look the cpu score seperatly maybe the other scores messed with it. since dual cores intel has been ahead if the ghz match espesially now with the intel i series * +

the scores mean nothing my scores are cpu- 7.1 ram- 7.4 desktop performance for aero- 7.4 gaming graphix- 7.4 and hdd- 5.4 becouse its a cr*ppy 2.5 notebook 5400rpm drive and the overall score is 5.4 because of that * +

in computer properties klick on the score to view the seperate scores then you will see the cpu scores and the lowest that brings the score down * +
