i seriously advice you to go download dev cpp and visit some nice c++ tutorial on the web. go mess with the basics in cmd then you'll be ready for winapi and gdi. if you want a more hands-on approach visit game-editor.com. it teaches c SUBTLY and it doesn't require any special programming knowledge to get you started,you can get all what you need from an interactive demo in the help area * +

and don't be afraid to try. c++ is very simple. lemme explain: ifs. its about the fun of the c++. some pseudo code,or whatever: 'if user pressed D then add 1 to value POSITION' then later 'draw player graphic on POSITION pixel'. just the basic primitive way to move player while pressing D. here is a dos example: 'if value GotKey not equals 1 write You can't pass,you don't have a key' else write Something is happening.
