sounds more like corrupted system files main cause viruses.... update your anti-virus and run a full scan if problem persists then you could consider a repair install of xp.... just to be sure you might also consider trying that particular installer on a friend's computer if it works proceed with the first 2 options * +

You might not have that computer hooked to the internet but you could of transferred a virus from a computer that has net access. * +

my guess is that you're running off disk space. installers usually extract data in temporary directory and scence there is no space,they report an error. you actually have two options 1. fix the problem - clean up the garbage as said above 2. format - reinstall everything. it seams like an easy problem buuut if you are looking for an easy way out,reinstall or have someone do it for you. you will of course lose everything from the system drive. which is the point right? still,back up what you re * +

look for your temporary folder and delete what's in side I get 10gb or so every few weeks. *
