Hi, I am interested in home theatre surround sound through a PC, I have 2 sources - blu ray player and XBOX 360, the question is, is it possible to connect these sources to a pc to experience 5.1 surround sound. My pc only has a basic sound card, but I am happy to purchase a suitable card, any recommendations ? Many thanks * +

I'm using a 5.1 surround sound system on my pc and the output is some of the best I've heard, I have onboard sound. * +

The home theatre system i bought have two remotes, one is for the dvd player and one for the sub , the sub have all the connectors for 5.1 speakers and can operate on it's own * +

so what I did was put the dvd player with tv, put the sub with pc and connected the the 5.1 to my pc , think you can only do it that way if you have a sub with seperate remote and the speaker inputs on the back ! * +

To get proper surround sound, you need that 5.1 system to have either, optical digital, HDMI or Coaxial INPUTS... Does is have any of those, or just the regular Red and White inputs? If not the 3 i mentioned, you'll only get loud stereo sound, not the surround sound from your xbox and blue-ray player. * +

you would get better results attaching them to a hifi amp. * +
