if you are formatting prior to reinstalling windows then your gonna want the cd to boot. if not, another machine will suffice or even the same machine if it's not the disk with windows on it. * +

I do suggest installing from a flash drive, 1 its faster 2 its easy 3 follow these steps .. Put a 8Gb flash drive in your Pc or laptop, format it FAT32 then u need to copy your Windows installation files from your Windows 7 Disk once copied just reboot your Computer and go into bios select boot from the flash drive u enetered, save and reboot n then it should boot from the flash drive n it will say something likw Windows 7 Installation * +
