iam in the market for a laptop in the uk my budget is around 600 quid although I could stretch to 700 at a push. I expected to get a decent core i5 laptop for this price and it seems as though I will. but after visiting my local Comet store recently I find 2 Asus laptops: first model is a: X53E-SX996V priced at 499.99 200 quid off in the Comet sale. the second model: X53SJ-SX148V is priced at 599.99 but is not in the sale. but amazingly both these laptops have a core i7 processor so watch the ca * +

a core i7 laptop for these prices? seems hard to believe and according to comet they are both sandy bridge so iam thinking whats the catch? seems very cheap for a core i7 laptop are asus laptops any good? cos iam suspicious at this price! * +

(according to google results asus and toshiba are the 2 most reliable brands which makes the deals even more attractive but I still cant help being suspicious at these prices. any opinions? * +

Price seems about right. Probably won't won't have a dedicated GPU. You'll be limited to games no more demanding than FIFA and The Sims if you're interested in gaming at all. * +

Second laptop you mentioned has Nvidia NV520, but that won't be any better than the performance I had already mentioned with regards to gaming. * +

I only game on my ps3 could never justify spending a 1000 pounds plus on a gaming computer especially when they outdate so fast. throwing good money down the drain in my opinion. * +

anyway iam surprised you say the price is right for these laptops because you cant buy a core i7 laptop from any other manufacturer for this price which leads me back to the same question why are these so cheap? try and get a toshiba, a hp, an acer, a sony or even a samsung core i7 laptop for this price you wont find one! * +
