yeap file format. you'll find the one that reads on your dvd player is formated to fat32, i wanted to put one through my dvd and Tv usb sockets and had to format to fat32 before it would work, where as a standard pc drive is NTFS. * +

pc should read anything, where as dvd players, tv's ect are more than likely to be fat or fat23 as the usb is designed for flashdrives mainly, so if you want them just for pc format in NTFS, but if you want to connect them to other devices i suggest fat23. (not sure about playstation though as never owned one). * +

yup fat32 to make it readable on most hardware. Don't be tempted to use exfat either! * +

goto pendrivelinux.com etc to get fat32 formatter, formats up to 2tb in fat32 windows itself can't do it past 40 or 80 gbs, the fat32 file system won't support single files larger than 4 gbs though *
