I have a laptop that will not boot up. It goes through the motions, but as soon as it gets to the windows logo, it shuts down again. My son accidently dropped it, so I presume the HD is knackered, but is there anything else I should check before I relplace it? * +

Yes. It mite have picked up sum nasty viruses from the floor when it fell. Run it on safe mode than run the antivirus than restart again. * +

look under it for access panels, if there are some they will allow you access to the hard drive and ram sticks, remove the panels and check to see if the ram sticks and hard drive are still securely connected, if there are no access panels DO NOT atempt to take the laptop apart there a sod to put back together * +

boot up the laptop and spam the F8 key and select safe mode. If the window loads in safe mode the run the system restore * +
