ok, so my laptop won't boot... I left it on to defrag, knowing that it would automatically turn off when finished (ultimate defrag 3) but just woke up to see it still on, only to see a black screen with the words 'unable to read OS' now I know for sure that there was nothing wrong with it before this happened, no viruses, malware or anything malicious... * +

it's a Samsung so I know it has a recovery mode and boot recovery, but neither of these are working and it's not even booting in safe mode, yet it reads the files to do so but just hangs on 'please wait' I dont have the original boot discs because that's how it came....unsure what to try next.... * +

try a repair disk ..search n download for ur O.S... sounds like it restarted during the defrag. * +

I dont have a repair disc either and without the laptop I can't download anything....might just have to take it in to town..... * +
