say for daily browsing,the odd download, the odd bit of gaming, how long do you think the average life is. i have an hp pavvion desktop, that i no longer need but it's fine and is getting on 5 yrs old and as been hammered and it;s fine. * +

Ive had a 486 pc that lasted 10yrs. I also have a p3 800mhz pc thats now 10 years old and with the same hard disks, still going. My homemade z80 computers, some of which are 20yrs old will just live forever cos old tech just dosent die. Ive been very lucky i guess. * +

laptops tend not to last long but a desktop is kinda like triggers broom, if a part breaks or gets old u can replace it * +
