well, you could right click your HDD in My Computer and select 'Format'...

im not familiar with the laptop and too lazy to google, if u know how to format ant tried, i suspect its got a sata hard drive, xp doesnt have laptop sata drivers embedded, that means you must do it yourself, download nlite, and get the drivers from the manufacturer site. you will need the windows cd aswell, you can also add most upgrades and service packs and your licence key wich make for fast * +

install. thats a good start. i made a completely automated disk that install windows and all my programs and settings in less than 20 mins, but start with nlite the rest is for much later * +

just do a clean install with the OS disc or make a recovery disc from http://diskinternals.com/boot-cd/ and see if it works * +
